Cause you are scared of heights and would like to pretend that it's something special (e.g. enlightenment) when you are plain chicken-shit-scared?

Cydonian:

A three season tent sounds cozy, but I’m curious as to how this would fit in with your mountaineering plans.

You see, I do not always go climbing snowy peaks for my mountaineering endeavors. In fact, a lot of times when I do regular climbing (you know, middle of the week/weekend sort of thing), it's out on regular sandstone/granite canyons and gorges, which tend to be fairly dry, with maybe the occasional shower or two.

So, the tent is for such times.

Señor Alamandrax:

A true mountaineer capable of prana-bindu exercises would have reached a point of enlightenment where climbing a mountain would seem quite pointless. Blah.

Ahhh, the joy of sleeping warm in a cold place. Delightful, señor, simply delightful.

pfft! upsart! a true mountaineer would hone his/her prana-bindu exercises and survive in the cold with no aid whatsoever.

right, i'm off to buy myself a nice and thick rug to keep me warm while i crank the A/C down to 18C.

Yes, I was thinking of teppanyaki. I always think of teppanyaki when we're dealing with a loss of honour; helps me keep my mind off all that ritualistic disembowelment.

You know, it's called Sepukku, not Sepuki.

Here's an overview of seasonal tents from Wikipedia:

A one-season tent is generally for summer use only, and may only be capable of coping with light showers. A three-season tent is for spring/summer/autumn and should be capable of withstanding fairly heavy rain, or very light snow. A four-season tent should be suitable for winter camping in all but the most extreme conditions; an expedition tent (for mountain conditions) should be strong enough to cope with heavy snow, strong winds, as well as heavy rain.

Right. That was incredibly stupid.

Rest assured, I shalt commit Seppuki only with the sharpest of swords.
